Industrial Welder -
Touchscreen UI Design

UI redesign for innovative IoT-enabled welder

A manufacturing startup partnered with our team to redesign the user experience for a new line of IoT-enabled welders. Their existing interface lacked usability and scalability, making it difficult to support advanced controls and analytics across different environments.

The goal was to create a modern touchscreen experience that simplified complex workflows while supporting real-time machine data, remote monitoring, and future product growth.

My Role as sole Visual Designer

  • Designed the full touchscreen UI system and visual language

  • Created reusable UI components and patterns

  • Collaborated with UX designers and developers to ensure scalability and implementation feasibility

Goals

  • Modernize the interface using Material Design principles

  • Simplify information-dense workflows for industrial users

  • Create a scalable component library for future development

  • Introduce polished visuals that improved usability and engagement

Challenges

The biggest challenge was balancing clarity with complexity. The platform required dense operational data, advanced controls, and analytics while remaining usable in fast-paced industrial environments.

To solve this, I designed a flexible system of reusable components including buttons, toggles, accordions, dropdowns, and status modules that could adapt across multiple screen types and workflows.

Outcomes

  • Delivered a modern touchscreen UI optimized for industrial workflows

  • Designed responsive experiences across embedded displays, laptops, tablets, and mobile devices

  • Created 15+ reusable UI components for a scalable pattern library

  • Helped establish a consistent foundation for future product development
